Guidelines of Opening of Classes and School Contribution

General Guidelines for the Opening of Classes, Including Collection of School Contributions, Enrollment, Student Uniforms and Release of MOOE
Pursuant to the Constitutional mandate for the provision of free public education at the elementary and secondary levels and to meet the countries targets in the Education for All Plan 2015 and the Millennium Development Goals with respect to primary school participation there is an urgent need to remove obstacles, both financial and non financial to the enrollment and continued schooling of school aged children.
The following policies shall be strictly observed:
a. No fees shall be collected from school children enrolling in pre school up to Grade 4, during the enrollment period and at any time during the school year. This prohibition shall cover among others the authorized but voluntary contributions such as BSP, GSP, Red Cross, Anti TB Fund and PTCA.
b. For grade and year levels beyond Grade 4, no collection of any type...

Calendar of School Events and Activities S.Y. 2009 - 2010
The school calendar for SY 2010-2010 integrates the core events and activities reflective of the standards and core processes of school - based management, national learning strategies, indigenous peoples education, teacher education and development, resource mobilization and management, ICT and quality management system in basic education. This is line with the mainstreaming in the school system of key reforms in basic education.
The school year shall begin on Monday, June 14, 2010 and shall end on Apr 8, 2011. It shall consist of 203 class days. This is inclusive of the 5 day INSET break and the parent teacher conferences that shall be held on Saturday immediately following the week after the administration of the quarterly examinations.DepEd Memo
